The series is loosely based on the movie „Fargo” created by the Coen brothers in 1996 and stars actors as Martin Freeman and Billie Bob Thornton. Although it still remains in the same tone, it doesn’t retell any of the original stories.
Fargo is a dark comedy/crime show that follows an everyday Minnesotan folk who get wrapped up in the world of crime, murder and drug dealing.

The first season follows a mild-mannered insurance salesman named Lester, who is constantly belittled by his more successful older brother, his high school bully who lives in the same town and also emotionally abused by his wife. One day after Lester gets beaten up, he by chance encounters a mysterious hitman named Malvo in the waiting room of a hospital. That night he snaps and murders his wife. He ends up calling him in order to help him clean up. What follows is a kind of slow-burning and awkward version

of Breaking Bad where Lester - once an innocent man -

gets dragged deeper into the criminal world, as he tries

to hide from the police.

It is an anthology series, which means that every single

season has a new plotline, time period, cast and a

completely new story. In my opinion, it is one of the

standout points, because that’s what makes every part

wrap up very neatly and give the illusion of a movie in

and of itself.
Have a watch if you like Tarantino movies, „Breaking Bad”,

„The God Father” or just if you want something to keep

you at the edge of your seat. Available on HBO GO.
